If I was the sort of person to toot my own horn
then this is the place where I might mention that
I wrote travel features for the Sunday Times for
17 years.
During that time I was UK travel writer of the year. I also won another national prize for travel writing which landed me two free tickets to Australia. I can't remember what the award was called but I enjoyed the trip. I also scored a Glenfiddich award for my food writing but that may not interest you so much.
I have written for the Telegraph, the Times, the Express and I edited the travel section of the Daily Mail. I have been lead travel writer for Esquire, Scottish Field and the London Magazine.
Towards the tail end of the last millennium, I worked for Microsoft for three years as the launch producer of Expedia in the UK. It is still going strong but oddly I don't get a commission on every flight sold.
I subsequently consulted to other online travel start-ups and saw out the first generation of the internet as internet travel correspondent for the Sunday Times.
I have been an independent communications consultant since 2004, helping companies dip their toes into the warm waters of social media marketing, launching blogs and managing reputations on Google, Yahoo and Facebook.
I have blogged in various places since 2004 and prefer to do my own design and development work. I also take pro-quality photographs and produce podcasts and online video.
